Anthony La Pinta has been a federal and state criminal defense, civil rights and personal injury attorney for over 35 years. He has achieved the coveted "Preeminent-AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has also been selected to the 2014-2025 editions of "Super Lawyers Magazine" New York Metro Edition.
Mr. La Pinta has successfully defended many high-profile cases that have drawn national media attention. Some of his past clients include law enforcement officials, financiers, politicians, attorneys and physicians. He has extensive experience representing corporations and individuals investigated or charged with white collar, non-violent and violent crimes at the trial and appellate levels. Mr. La Pinta has achieved particular success in obtaining trial acquittals, developing sentencing mitigation, and securing post-judgment relief.
Mr. La Pinta also represents clients in civil rights and serious personal injury matters including false arrest, malicious prosecution, wrongful death, serious motor vehicle accidents, construction accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, civil rights violations, and professional liability cases. He has obtained numerous noteworthy trial verdicts and settlements in courts throughout the New York metropolitan region.
EXPERIENCE
Mr. La Pinta is an adjunct professor at Touro Law School where he teaches Criminal Procedure and Trial Advocacy. He is a routine lecturer for the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). He is a current member of the Board of Trustees for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and the New York State Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District. He previously served as Counsel to The Suffolk County Democratic Committee and is current Special Counsel to The Village of Babylon and The Incorporated Village of Islandia. Mr. La Pinta is a former President of the Suffolk Criminal Bar Association and past Chairperson of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee of the Suffolk Bar Association. He has also been a contributor and legal commentator for Court TV, Fox News, Newsday and News 12 Long Island.
Mr. La Pinta was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in West Islip, Long Island. He is a graduate of Temple University Law School and is currently a partner of La Pinta, Lesko & Miskiewicz, P.C., located in Hauppauge and Mineola.
