Notable Cases

  • Led an internal investigation for a professional sports organization that oversaw competitions that uncovered improper conduct by an employee.
     

  • Represented a client charged in a high-profile arson case.  The client, who was originally facing a large mandatory minimum sentence, eventually pled guilty to a reduced explosives charge and received a sentence of time served. 
     

  • Lead attorney defending a large suburban police department in federal class action employment discrimination case.
     

  • Represented a private equity firm regarding national security issues related to business in the Middle East. 
     

  • Conducted an internal investigation for a large international non-profit organization regarding potential OFAC violations.  
     

  • Member of the prosecution trial team in U.S. v. Raniere, an eight-week complex racketeering trial where the defendant, the leader of the NXIVM self-help group, was convicted of racketeering, sex trafficking, and other related offenses.  The defendant was sentenced to 120 years' imprisonment. 
     

  • Supervised U.S. v. Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, resulting in the conviction of the leader of the Sinaloa cartel at trial. 
     

  • Supervised U.S. v. Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and the related prosecution of its CFO.  
     

  • Supervised the $6 billion 1MDB Malaysian bond fraud case and the related resolution with Goldman Sachs, including its subsidiary guilty plea. 
     

  • Lead prosecutor in U.S. v. Sabhnani, known as the "Muttontown Slave Case," where the defendants were convicted of detaining two domestic servants in a state of servitude after a ten-week trial.
